The complex pricing strategies used in the food industry may contribute to your bottom line but are difficult to control. To be effective, these pricing tools must be flexible and easy to use. Food/6000® was designed so that pricing decisions need not be made when the order is taken. Instead, they are defaulted based on predefined pricing strategies. Pricing policies at the customer level are set to define whether the customer is priced at date of order or date of shipment. Also, what pricing matrix is to be used for the sell price and the promotional prices. Finally, what rebates and commissions are earned on a sale to the customer. Some of the main pricing features are described below.

Contract Pricing

Food/6000® Contract Pricing provides comprehensive price control for institutional customers and others who require contract pricing. Within each contract are flexible sell price calculation methods, promotional discounts and price change methods. Also within each contract are customer order guide capabilities including user-defined departments and sequences.

Customer Pricing

Our Customer Pricing is designed for food service and other customer types whose prices on selected items change often: for example, weekly. Its easy-to-use format allows users to quickly key enter price changes, or prices can be globally recalculated from a changed cost for a future effective date. Weekly Customer Price Lists can be batch printed for all customers who require one.

Commodity Market Pricing

You can calculate the sell price on selected products from the commodity market price of the product it is derived from. For products, like steaks and cheese that spin-off by-products, you can credit the by-product value in the computation of the sell price of the primary products. You can also apply factors for freight, manufacturing cost, market minimums and yield percentages in the sell price computation.

Promotional Discounts

Individual contracts, customers, or customer groups (promotional groups) can be offered promotional discounts on a product. All promotional discounts are controlled by effective date range. Promotional pricing can be expressed as percent off or cents off the regular price.

Quantity Break Discounts

Quantity break discounting has all of the capabilities of promotional discounting but provides up to 10 quantity break levels per item: each level offering a deeper discount.



Multiple Selling/Pricing Units of Measure

A unique Food/6000® feature is "leveling" and you will read more about it in the inventory section of the brochure. It includes the ability to sell and price in more than one unit of measure within a single product number. You no longer need to have two stock numbers: one for full cases and the other for split cases. You can specify a "break adder" to recalculate the selling price when cases are split. For catch weighted products, you can sell by the case and price by the pound or break to the pound. This feature creates even larger advantages in purchasing and sales history because full cases and splits are consolidated into a single stock number.

Off Invoice Allowances

Allowances that are calculated based on whole invoice dollar amount, weight or case count are common in some food markets. The ability to grant certain customers pick up allowances and whole invoice

discounts adds additional flexibility to the pricing.

Eight Default Price Levels

The foundation of Food/6000® pricing is eight price levels. They can be used "stand alone" or in conjunction with contract or customer pricing. Each customer is flagged to buy from one of the eight price levels in the absence of a customer or contract price. The eight levels usually represent price lists by customer type or pricing zone. The eight price levels have price change capabilities similar to customer pricing: calculate a new sell price from cost using several methods or enter a new sell price. All price changes are effective date controlled.

Suggested Retail Price

The eight default price levels each allow you to specify a Suggested Retail Price (SRP). Using or optional bar code and productions modules, the customer’s SRP can even be printed on the retail tray pack.
