Is the Food/6000 database ODBC (Open Data Base Compliant)?
Yes, you can access the database using any ODBC query tool such
as Microsoft Access or Crystal Reports.
What operating systems does Food/6000 run under?
UNIXâ or Windows NTâ . Under UNIX our preferred operating
system is IBM AIX on the RISC System/6000â . However the software can
run under a wide variety of UNIX operating systems.
How is the software licensed?
Our licenses are based on concurrent user count. Our beginning
license level is 8 users. Above 8 users, you can purchase users
one-at-a-time or in more economical "packs" of 16 or 32 users.
How long has SEI been in the software business?
We have been writing software under the same ownership and management since 1979.
How many employees do you have?
We have 13 employees.
Do you have a sales representative near me?
Don Tyler, our Vice
President of Sales manages all sales, from our Louisiana office. Our
software is not sold through dealers.
How many clients do you have using the software?
We have about 55
clients scattered coast-to-coast.
Do you provide round-the-clock software support?
Yes, 7 days a week. Our
policy is that we will respond to your trouble call within 15 minutes.
Your software maintenance contract provides 24-hour telephone support
for a fixed monthly fee.
What is the programming language for Food/6000?
Food/6000 is written in
Universal Business Languageâ (UBL) by Transoft, Ltd. UBL is a version of
Business Basic. For more information, follow the Transoft link on our
web site.
What database does Food/6000 use?
Universal Business Language uses an
ISAM style database. It is not relational, but it is ODBC compliant.
Does Food/6000 utilize modules written by others?
We wrote all of our
application modules. Our FAX features utilize a 3rd party FAX engine,
our bar code label design utilizes a 3rd party WYSIWYG design package
and our report writer is provided by Transoft, Ltd., the author of our
programming language.
Do you have a demo disk available?
No, we do not offer a demo disk.
However we do offer guided tours of the software. All you need is a PC
with Windows 95 or above, a modem line and a voice line. Please contact us to
arrange a guided tour. Do you have barcoding and scanning capabilities
in Food/6000?
Yes, we
have RF (radio frequency) and non-RF applications for receiving,
shipping, production, physical inventories and other specialized barcode
applications.
Do you provide custom modifications to Food/6000?
Yes, we do provide
custom modifications. In most instances, your custom modifications will
not prevent you from receiving updates to Food/6000 in the future.
Is source code available for Food/6000?
Yes, source code and technical
documentation is provided with each software license. There are no
additional charges for source code. How often do you release new versions of Food/6000?
New versions are
released about once a year. The new versions are provided to you free of
charge as long as you maintain your software support contract. There may
be a charge to convert your existing database to run against the new
version of Food/6000.
